Knickerbocker Glory! is a fantastically entertaining cabaret show presented by The Sundaes, a trio of ladies whose main shtick is that they are bigger than life, literally. Don’t let any stereotype about size fool you, the Sundaes are even bigger and better in talent and comedy.

The Sundaes open the night by swaggering out onto the stage in glittering sequin covered mermaid dresses for a lovely rendition of ‘Dreamgirls.’ Their frozen yogurt swirl shaped wigs with waffle cone sticking out of the side stand at least a foot higher than their own heads. They appropriately are in red, yellow, and brown tones: Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate, respectively, that make up this Neapolitan delight. The Sundaes may not be everyone’s favourite flavour, sometimes they feel like an over-the-top drag act - except they are women. They are still enjoyable nonetheless.

All three of the Sundaes belt like they are biggest and best diva in the spotlight, and they often fight with each other to maintain the limelight for themselves. Their renditions of pop songs from the 60s, 70s, and beyond are highly entertaining and beautifully performed. You will recognize many, if not all of the songs, including 'Stop in the Name of Love,' ‘Shout,’ and The Pointer Sisters’ ‘Jump.’ Their medley of songs dedicated to the singing divas of the 90s: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston, is chillingly marvelous in all the right ways.

When the ladies strip down to their very own Knickerbocker Glory for the finale – that is the true sundae. I don’t want to give away the surprise, but this song alone is 100% worth the ticket price. They are delicious!

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.
