If I Catch Alphonso, Tonight!Billy Merson took London Music Halls by storm in1909. The following year he wrote 'The Spaniard that Blighted my Life' to sing in pantomime at Brighton's Theatre Royal. The song would both make and break him. This new musical play recalls his turbulent life and contains extracts from sixteen of his comic songs. It is the story of a man who constantly found himself on the ropes but always bounced back. He was the inspiration for future generations of comedians and his legacy lives on.Miles Jenner plays Billy Merson and is accompanied by Roger Roser on the piano.
