Led by international violin soloist Ilya Gringolts, the Gringolts Quartet has dazzled audiences from Salzburg to Londons Wigmore Hall with its remarkable technical prowess and its raw, radiant, revealing accounts of music old and new.
Brahmss bright, sunny and exquisitely crafted Third Quartet closes their rich, witty International Festival debut recital. It follows Haydns brilliantly comic The Frog Quartet, and the darker humour of contemporary German composer Jrg Widmanns fantastical The Hunt Quartet " which ends in a literal musical hunt of one of the quartet players.
This concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 14 August
