An unusually beautiful girl named Alya died in the summer of 1996 in strange circumstances. She was seventeen. Ten years later, in the summer of 2006, her friends, Matty, Orlaith and Aaron meet for the first time since the accident. Orlaith is a successful equity consultant in Dublin. Aaron is an aspiring young architect and Matty is in the bar trade at home in Limerick. Aaron introduces his fianc, Clara to the group. She bears an uncanny resemblance to Alya. They realise they never celebrated their old friends life and so they decide to conduct a fake wake on Mattys rooftop. As the night grows older more questions are asked about the exact nature of Alyas death. A new play by Limerick playwright Liam McCarthy, directed by Sarah Bradley (Bristol Old Vic) for Octopus Soup Theatre. Falling was previously presented as a rehearsed reading at the Collaborations festival in Dublin and was recently shortlisted for the Best New Play award at Listowel Writers Week.
