Julie Taymor's busy, bustling production of Mozart's fairy tale opera is peopled with gargantuan puppets and kitelike animals of every sort. Though very popular, the staging is not to all tastes. For this revival, the Metropolitan Opera has lined up an enticing cast, including the sweet-voiced young soprano Pretty Yende as Pamina, the appealing tenor Toby Spence as Prince Tamino, the dynamic baritone Markus Werba as Papageno and the great bass Ren Pape as Sarastro. Adam Fischer conducts.
