Bob and Jim are a self-proclaimed neo-vaudeville phenomenon. Two cheeky cockney chaps in suits and hats, they take to the stage engaging in plenty of audience interaction and entertaining with ukulele pop covers, some mime and even a séance.
Despite being a lunchtime show with a number of children in the audience, a lot of the humour was either adult or contained references that went well over the children’s heads. As well as this, there were a number of instances of swearing and some inappropriate hand gestures. However, mixed in with this were a number of party games (pass the parcel, musical statues and a farcical attempt at musical chairs) and an abnormally high level of toilet humour.
Watch out for interruptions from evil nemeses (cue much booing and hissing), as well as a ‘special appearance’ from the men who supposedly created the characters of Bob and Jim. Be prepared also for a great deal of tedious innuendos and shamefully weak puns.
In all honesty, there was an underlying feeling that the show didn’t end soon enough due to its heavily farcical nature. However, if it sounds like the sort of thing that tickles your fancy then do go along - what you see is most certainly what you get.
