Inspired by Hitchcock's Rear Window, Back Door is the story of Tabitha Montgomery, a ballsy British reporter who has recently broken her leg, and John, her American houseboy, who discover that the new neighbour across the courtyard is filmmaker/dancer/performance-artiste Violette, a cross-dressing enigma. When Violette's dance partner dies, Tabitha is convinced that her neighbour had something to do with it, and sets about trying to prove it. Back Door is ultimately about our sense of ownership of celebrities, and the interpretation of art, as Tabitha becomes increasingly obsessed with a person she can't quite figure out.
