Dystopian Owls present a play that combines comedy, farce and satire in a contemporary, austerity setting.
This satirical comedy explores the absurdity between what a management says and the way they behave. The play is set in a Further Education college, a sector of the education world beset by severe government funding cutbacks over the years, whilst being invited to support the delivery of 3 million apprentices by 2020. Here at Runcible College (College strap line You chose Runcible College. You know where you can go) this team respond to government cuts and an appalling Ofsted inspection by retreating into self-serving self-preservation and fraud. Into this dysfunctional organisation we track newly recruited manager, Nigel, from his first day. What follows is a darkly comic series of events. Nigel had left the Department for Education to promote his ideas in the real world. His enthusiasm to genuinely put students at the heart of everything will surely make a difference? Or will it?
