Poet Stan Skinny brings Love Poems For The Feint Hearted to the PBH Free Frnge this year.
Mostly it's just a collection of funny and touching poems
What do people need to know about you?
I am a stand up poet, part anarchist, part shoe. I've been described by Off the Shelf as Sheffield's funniest and tallest poet, but then tall Paul moved into town and he's far funnier. I am an identical twin, and I'm doing a show with him too called Bunty and Bodkins.
What are you up to this Fringe?
I'm bringing up my 2nd solo spoken word show after my first, Tesco Chainstore Massacre. The new show is called Love Poems For The Feint Hearted and that's what it is. Love poems wrapped up in a rom com dom narrative. It's a boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy becomes poet, girl hates boy more, boy sends weird poems, girl sends round the police, boy apologizes, boy blames his parent's divorce and the media, boy and girl get married, get murdered by the kids. That sort of thing. Mostly it's just a collection of funny and touching poems, which have become my stock and trade. The warehouse is very full.
What else are you going to see?
I like to support the other free shows. I usually always go and see Ali Brice, Cheeky Kita, Jonny Sorrrow, but I also like just taking a plunge on a new acts that sounds interesting or I've met and they're really nice. I don't just stick to poetry either: cabaret, music, drama. And of course the Predator man on the Royal Mile or the floating Yoda are always highlights. And timely reminders to give up.
