Tell us about your show
Promising Persons A, B and C LTD. are here to compete for your audience
investment. In a bid to win you over, Jessica Loveless will guide them through
an intensive screening process but only one of them can be truly one above the
rest.
This show is a comedic response to the individual’s sense of identity in a society where perfectibility, one-upmanship and inside out commodification are increasingly celebrated as steps toward progress.
Why did you decide to take your show to Space UK this year?
SpaceUK have offered us a fitting platform to showcase our work as first timers in Edinburgh. They have made the process very straight forward thus far. We feel that it was the right time to take something up to the Fringe which is daring, fast, comic and posits a tough current social message. We are excited to be working with SpaceUK and we feel supported by them.
Why Edinburgh? What’s the attraction?
It’s the biggest arts festival in the world with a large number of curious audiences who are willing to take a risk on something. It’s such a lively, buzzing and mad place during the festival, we want to be part of that atmosphere.
What makes your show unique amongst the thousands of others at the festival?
It is an original and heavily researched piece of work completely devised by us. It’s about the struggle for solidarity and sense of relatedness in a neoliberal society which posits individual gain above all else. I don’t believe a lot of other companies are talking about it the way we are. The show is small, the space is small, but the spirit is big. Hopefully audiences will feel that too.
What’s the main thing you want to get out of the festival this year?
We want to meet other exciting companies and individuals, see other stimulating work and obviously want our show to be recognized as one which is worth seeing.
Can you tell us a bit about your company’s background?
We established ourselves as PALP at the beginning of this year. We are theatre makers from London with a taste for devising fast paced, absurd and comic performances for intimate spaces. There are currently four of us.
