David Witts to play Fiyero in Wicked in the West End

Actor David Witts has been announced as the latest actor to take on the role of Fiyero in the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

I can’t wait to start rehearsals and to join everyone at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from 23rd July

Witts is best-known for playing Joey Branning in the BBC soap EastEnders, and has previously appeared on stage as Link in Hairspray at the Leicester Curve Theatre. He trained at National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Music Theatre.

Witts will take over as Fiyero on 23rd July 2018, as current Fiyero Bradley Jaden will play his final performance on 21st July. Wicked tickets are available now.

On taking on the role, Witts said: “After three amazing years living and working in Los Angeles, I am excited to be getting back on stage again and to be coming home to make my West End debut in the incredible musical Wicked.

“I can’t wait to start rehearsals and to join everyone at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from 23rd July.”

Stephen Schwartz’s musical Wicked is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and was adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman. The show premiered on Broadway in 2003 at the Gershwin Theatre, where it continues to run. It has been running in the West End since 2006.
