Cian and Al are bringing The Dock Brief, a legal satire revolving around a murder and an unsuccessful barrister. Broadway Baby has a little chit-chat.
Tell us about your show
Two guys doing a great thing, hoping to bring entertainment and joy to as many people as they can!
Why did you decide to take your show to Space UK this year?
First and foremost they had a venue named ‘Jury’s Inn ’which we felt was particularly appropriate for our piece. Between the two of us we have four previous experiences of the space, knowing them to be reliable, trustworthy and lovely people.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s festival?
Selling, producing and performing our own show. It’s a first for us and we can’t wait to get started.
Why Edinburgh? What’s the attraction?
The world’s largest and most vibrant arts festival. Where else would you go?
Have you brought a show to the festival before?
Yes, both of us have, but this is the company's debut.
What makes your show unique amongst the thousands of others at the festival?
To our knowledge, The Dock Brief hasn’t been done at the fringe in the last 40 years. We believe enormously in it and think Mortimer is at his best. Pure comedy gold.
What has been the biggest challenge in getting your show ready for Edinburgh?
The distance between the both of us and other commitments we have.
How did you create your show?
Through rehearsal, trial and error…pardon the pun.
What’s the main thing you want to get out of the festival this year?
Fun and a sense of achievement. If anything along the fame and fortune line were to occur we wouldn’t say no! More than happy to welcome offers, as our diaries are relatively free.
Can you tell us a bit about your company’s background?
Cian and Al met five years ago under the forced status system of teacher and pupil and have since grown to become friends and equals.
