Brighton Fringe is asking people in Sussex to give the gift of joy this Christmas by helping the Fringe put on its first ever opening night parade.
As an arts charity, Brighton Fringe acts as a platform for all artists at any stage in their career.
Brighton Fringe has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the aim of bringing the community together in May.
The Fringe is asking fans of Brighton Fringe to make a donation of around £3 to help fund an illuminated evening parade on Friday 6th May 2016. Plans are for performers and community groups to parade through Brighton, lighting up the city before finishing at Madeira Drive with a fireworks display on the beach.
Julian Caddy, Brighton Fringe’s Managing Director, said: “Brighton Fringe is calling on people to help bring this parade of lights to our city and make 2016 the biggest and best Brighton Fringe yet. We’re hoping people will get behind the Brighton Fringe Opening Night Parade - with their help we will light up the night sky and kick off this great celebration of the arts with a bang!
“For just £3 you can take part in this fantastic night-time parade. Other donation rewards include a Brighton Fringe tote bag, t-shirts and VIP membership packs. A little or a lot, your pledge to the Brighton Fringe will help bring the city alive next spring.”
Running for four weeks during the months of May and early June, Brighton Fringe features around 800 events including comedy, theatre, cabaret and music.
Committed to helping the arts flourish, Brighton Fringe is an open access festival, enabling our great city to come together and celebrate art in all forms. This vast celebration of all things creative has been inspired by home-grown talent, with more than half of participants coming from Brighton & Hove.
As an arts charity, Brighton Fringe acts as a platform for all artists at any stage in their career. Only 3% of the festival’s funding comes from public subsidy. The organisation relies on community members and partners to help make this festival the iconic and vibrant festival it is.
