EdFringe Meet The Press

We've sorted out our initial review list, but not to worry if you're not in it. Three of the team at Fringe Central Meet The Press on Saturday 7th have kept their diaries completely clear so we can schedule reviews for the people taking the trouble to come talk to us.
Meet The Press will be manic, stressful and enormously rewarding if you prepare well for it. Here are a few tips based on last year's event.
- Do have a (very) brief pitch rehearsed in you head. The time allowed with each publication is incredibly short, so you need to get across everything the publication needs in order to know whether they should be covering it or not, and you'll want to leave a little time in case the publication has questions.
- Check with your venue press office to see which publications have already booked press tickets. Queues can be long, and you'll want to focus your efforts on getting on the radar of those that haven't spotted you yet, unless, of course, you want to pitch interviews, etc.
- Understand what type of coverage each publication does. Some only do reviews, some only do features. You'll need to spin your pitch to match that editorial.
- Use marketing tricks to get yourself remembered in the short time you have with each publication. An A4 press release is quickly forgotten. I still have a Las Vegas calendar hanging in my kitchen from a company doing a show about gambling last year. Try and think of an angle for your show that makes you stand out from the crowd.
