What do people need to know about you?
I’m expecting plenty of shudders and sleepless nights for the audience
Edinburgh based poet, performer and promoter brings his second solo spoken-word show to the Fringe, following last year’s wildly successful show Who Are Your People? His debut pamphlet Who Are Your People? was published in July 2014 and his debut collection is due out in 2018.
What are you up to this Fringe?
I’m bringing my second solo show this year, after last year’s fantastic run, I’m focusing on the darker side of fairy tales, diving into what makes them so terrifying, and why we keep telling them, over and over to every generation. Remember when everything was going bump in the night? Those times are back now, and those things going bump are mad, and hungry. Taking the character of Jack from the Beanstalk, I wanted to write a new fairy tale to explain his eventual life as a Giantkiller, all the while taking the fairy tales of our youth and exposing the full, horror of those characters. I’m expecting plenty of shudders and sleepless nights for the audience.
What else are you going to see?
Pretty much every other spoken-word show that I can physically fit into the day! Sophia Walker, James McKay, Hannah Chutzpah, Sara Hirsh, Loud Poets, Jess Green, David Lee Morgan, the list is nearly endless and the talent is simply phenomenal. I can’t list all the amazing acts I would see, but all of them are worth seeing.
