SpaceDating: Diva Las Vegas

Broadway Baby chats to the saucy, sassy & delicious Sundaes about ice cream and Diva Las Vegas. Oh myyy...

Strawberry has an attraction to anything that moves – and Edinburgh moves! We all love Edinburgh as a city which is why we are so excited to return for another festival.

Tell us about yourself….

We are The Sundaes – Chocolate, Strawberry & Vanilla - Sassy, Sexy and Sensational – you can decide who is who! We are quite simply the ‘biggest’ girl group in town. Our group presents a special blend of stunning vocals, sensational choreography and superb comedy, not to mention the outrageous costumes! But don’t judge a Sundae by our large…. hairdo! We never fail to put a smile on your face with our unique act. In Diva Las Vegas where we pay homage to the biggest divas on the planet. It’s like being in Vegas without the jet lag!

Do you come here often?

Last time was in 2012 so not as often as we would like. Maybe you could make us stay forever if you are nice to us! We have been trying to get back for so long so this year we are delighted to squeeze this date into our diary!

Who do you most want to meet at the festival?

Chocolate would love to meet inspiring performers who show real talent. She is really looking forward to the wide variety of entertainment you can expect from the fringe. Strawberry would love to meet anyone single! And Vanilla is excited to meet anyone without a fringe (she thinks everyone needs to have a fringe at the fringe!)

What’s your favourite Edinburgh bar or restaurant?

How can you expect us to pick just one! Scoopz Ice Cream Parlour is always a must – Vanilla wants to know if that counts? The Chocolate Lounge in Harvey Nics is amazing. Strawberry is a big fan of The Devil’s Advocate. We also love a sneaky night out at CC Blooms – we don’t need to leave the sequins at home!

Do you have an attraction to Edinburgh?

Strawberry has an attraction to anything that moves – and Edinburgh moves! We all love Edinburgh as a city which is why we are so excited to return for another festival. The people who live in Edinburgh and those that visit are wonderful people to meet. We look forward to making many new friends along the way.

What’s your passion?

Our real passion is making people happy and to show people you should not judge a book by its cover. We love to surprise people not only with our vocals but with everything about us. We may be plus size but that’s all the more talent to show you.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this article has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
